Early Life and Background

Im Na-yeon (임나연), professionally known as Nayeon, was born on September 22, 1995, in Gangdong District, Seoul, South Korea. She grew up alongside her younger sister, Im Seo-yeon, in a supportive family environment. From a young age, Nayeon exhibited a passion for the performing arts, participating in a child modeling contest that caught the attention of JYP Entertainment. Although her mother initially opposed her entering the entertainment industry at such a young age, Nayeon's determination led her to secretly audition for JYP in 2010, where she was accepted as a trainee.

During her trainee years, Nayeon was slated to debut with a girl group called 6mix, but the project was eventually canceled. She also made a brief appearance in the 2012 television series "Dream High 2," showcasing her early acting potential. 

Rise to Fame with TWICE

In 2015, Nayeon participated in the reality survival show "Sixteen," designed to select members for JYP Entertainment's new girl group. Her exceptional talent and charisma secured her a spot in the final lineup of TWICE, which officially debuted on October 20, 2015, with the extended play (EP) "The Story Begins."

The EP itself debuted at number one on South Korea's Circle Album Chart and reached number seven on the US Billboard 200, making Nayeon the first South Korean soloist to enter the top ten of the latter chart.

Continuing her solo endeavors, Nayeon released her second EP, "Na," on June 14, 2024. This project showcases a more mature and experimental side of the artist, incorporating hip-hop and dance elements. The EP includes collaborations with artists such as Sam Kim and Julie from Kiss of Life. "Na" also achieved commercial success, topping the Circle Album Chart and securing a spot in the top ten of the US Billboard 200.

Beyond her musical pursuits, Nayeon has established herself as a fashion icon and brand ambassador. She has collaborated with various brands, including Chaumet's Joséphine collection, Biotherm Korea, and Givenchy Beauty, where she was appointed as the official muse. In May 2023, she became the Asia ambassador for Tommy Jeans, further solidifying her influence in the fashion industry. 

Nayeon's unique style and trendsetting looks have been featured in prominent fashion magazines such as Nylon Korea, Cosmopolitan Korea, W Korea, and Elle Korea. Her ability to seamlessly blend music and fashion continues to captivate fans and industry professionals alike.
